JAMMU, Dec 30: BJP senior leader and former Health Minister Bali Bhagat on Tuesday mounted an all-out political offensive against the Congress after its leader Manickam Tagore compared the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) with the banned terror outfit Al-Qaeda, calling the remark an “open insult to the nation and its patriots”.
Reacting sharply, Bali Bhagat said the statement has once again unmasked the Congress party’s deep-rooted anti-national mindset, alleging that under Rahul Gandhi’s leadership, the party has turned hostility towards nationalist organisations into its core ideology.
“Congress has reached such a level of moral degradation that it now equates patriots with terrorists. This is not ignorance; this is deliberate political poison. Manickam Tagore is merely echoing Rahul Gandhi’s script,” Bali Bhagat said.
Launching a scathing attack on the Congress leadership, Bhagat accused the party of romanticising terrorists while vilifying nationalist forces. “For Congress, nationalists are terrorists and terrorists are ‘messengers of peace’. This dangerous narrative has been pushed repeatedly-be it on Afzal Guru, Yakub Memon, Naxals, or banned outfits like PFI and SIMI,” he alleged.
Defending the RSS, Bhagat said the organisation has been a pillar of nation-building, character formation, disaster relief, and social service for over 100 years, while Congress has done nothing but spread “lies, insinuations, and slander”.
“If the RSS was a terror organisation, would India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru have invited it to national events? Would leaders like Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee have associated with it? Rahul Gandhi must answer this,” he asserted.
Bali Bhagat said Rahul Gandhi’s silence on the issue amounts to endorsement of the insult, and demanded an unconditional apology from the Congress to the nation and to millions of RSS volunteers.
“Congress has no right to lecture anyone on nationalism. A party that weakened the nation through appeasement politics is today attacking those who strengthened it. This is not just political bankruptcy, it is ideological collapse,” Bhagat added.
The BJP said it will continue to expose what it termed the Congress party’s habitual anti-India narrative and warned that such statements demoralise patriots and embolden anti-national forces.
