JAMMU, Dec 30: Jammu & Kashmir U-16 men’s cricket team set a remarkable record in the ongoing Vijay Merchant Trophy by defeating Nagaland with an innings and 450 runs at Surat.
Batting first, J&K posted a massive 601/5 declared, with Arsalan Nayak scoring a sensational double century (215). Other key contributors included Harinder Singh (135), Hadi Amin (115), Jaskaran Singh (51) and skipper Smagey Khajuria (27).
In response, Nagaland was bundled out for 82 runs in the first innings and 69 runs in the second. Bendangwapang (23) and Drona Chetry (20) were the top scorers in the first innings, while Shivam Kumar Prasad (21) led the second-innings effort.
The emphatic victory highlighted J&K’s dominance in the tournament and underscored their batting depth and lethal bowling attack, earning widespread praise from officials and cricket enthusiasts.
