JAMMU, Dec 31: The Department of Personnel and Training, Government of India, has approved the re-designation of the post of Private Secretary to the Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare from Deputy Secretary level to Director level as a personal measure.

The post is presently held by Ravinder Kumar, a 2012 batch IAS officer of the joint AGMUT cadre, who has earlier served in the erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir cadre and later in the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh before proceeding on Central deputation.
As per an order, Kumar will continue as Private Secretary to Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan at the upgraded level with effect from January 1, 2026 or from the date of assumption of charge, whichever is later while his re-designation will remain valid up to April 18, 2029 under the Central Staffing Scheme.
