JAMMU, Dec 31: A delegation of the Non-Gazetted Police Pensioners Welfare Forum has submitted a representation to the Director General of Police, Jammu and Kashmir, seeking various welfare measures for retired police personnel.
The retirees demanded extension of ECHS card facility to those who retired before 2019, restoration of the NGO Mess at Gulshan Ground in Jammu, and opening of a similar NGO Mess in Srinagar for retirees coming from far-flung areas.
They also sought enhancement of medical allowance to Rs 1000 at par with other Union Territories, reservation for children of police personnel in professional colleges and recruitment, and better redressal of grievances of retired staff.
The forum further requested that retired police personnel be invited to national functions and that their experience be utilised for the benefit of the department.
Issues related to inadequate grants given to differently-able retired personnel were also raised.
The delegation urged senior police leadership to hold regular interactions with retirees and consider their demands sympathetically.
