Passenger Held Under NDPS Act During Early Morning Checking In J&K’s Sunderbani

Rajouri, Jan 3: Police arrested a man and recovered a narcotic substance during a vehicle checking operation in the Sunderbani area of Rajouri district on Saturday early morning.
Officials said that a police team from Police Station Sunderbani was conducting routine checking at GV Police Naka near ITI College, Sunderbani. During the operation, a passenger vehicle, a tempo bearing registration number PB01D-8780, coming from Jammu towards Rajouri, was intercepted for inspection.
During frisking of the passengers, police recovered approximately four grams of a narcotic substance resembling chitta from one individual. The accused has been identified as Skander Shah, son of Manawar Hussain Shah, a native of Dharaj, Tehsil Kotranka (Kandi), District Rajouri.
The accused was immediately taken into custody, and the recovered substance was seized as per legal procedure. Police said that a case FIR No. 1/2026 under Sections 08, 21 and 22 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Sunderbani, and further investigation has been taken up to ascertain the source and possible links of the contraband.
