DODA, Jan 2: Police here today seized a Working Still (Bhatti) along with a huge quantity of illicit liquor.
Based on reliable information received at Police Post Bhalla that a lady Sumana Devi, wife of Angat Kumar, resident of Tesana, Tehsil Bhalla, was allegedly indulging in the manufacturing and sale of illicit liquor from her residence, cops from Police Post Bhalla along with Executive Magistrate In-Charge Bhalla rushed to the spot and raided the place.
During search operation in the area, cops recovered 4 bottles (750 ml each) of illicit Desi liquor, 9 bottles (750 ml each) of JK Special Whisky, approximately 180 litres of Lahan (fermented material) and distillation apparatus (Bhatti).
All the recovered items were seized on the spot.
Accordingly, a case in FIR No. 01/2026 under Sections 48(a), 48(b), 48(e) and 48(f) of the Excise Act was registered at Police Station Bhaderwah and investigation started.
