JAMMU, Jan 11: The Congress Party today paid floral tribute to former Prime Minister of India, Late Lal Bahadur Shastri, on his death anniversary at the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) office, Shaheedi Chowk, Jammu.
Working president Raman Bhalla, former Minister J&K Yogesh Sawhney, Ex- MLC and JKPCC I/C Hqr Ved Mahajan along with senior leaders, party office bearers and workers assembled to commemorate the life and legacy of the great national leader, recalling his unmatched contribution to the nation and his ideals of simplicity, honesty and dedication to public service. The leaders highlighted that Lal Bahadur Shastri’s values continue to remain highly relevant in today’s times.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhalla said that Lal Bahadur Shastri was a symbol of integrity, courage and principled leadership. He said that Shastri Ji led the country during extremely challenging times and strengthened India’s unity and morale with the historic slogan “Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan.”
Bhalla emphasized that Shastri Ji’s commitment to the welfare of farmers, soldiers and the common man should inspire today’s leadership. He added that the Congress Party remains dedicated to safeguarding democratic values and the vision laid down by its great leaders.
He further said that Shastri’s life teaches the importance of humility in leadership and accountability in governance. He stated that Shastri Ji believed in leading by example and always placed national interest above personal or political gains.
Sawhney, while paying rich tributes, said that Lal Bahadur Shastri’s life was an example of ethical governance and selfless service. He stated that Shastri Ji always believed in transparent administration and worked tirelessly for the upliftment of the weaker sections of society.
