JAMMU, Jan 15: Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has said that the refusal of recognition of B P Ed and M P Ed courses in Jammu University by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) is a direct consequence of poor governance, lack of accountability, and unprofessional handling of academic departments by the university administration.
Talking to media persons, here today, ABVP Jammu University President Amit Sadotra and Secretary Jayavardhani Singh Parihar expressed serious concern over refusal of recognition by NCTE and held JU administration responsible for the same. Appointment of an ineligible person as the Director of the Department of Physical Education and Sports, who does not possess the requisite academic background and qualifications in the field of Physical Education, is the main reason behind refusal of recognition by NCTE, they said.
“Due to the negligence and administrative failure of the university authorities, students have suffered immensely. For the last two academic years, students have been unable to take admission in B P Ed and M P Ed courses, causing irreparable damage to their careers and mental distress to aspiring candidates,” said the ABVP leaders.
Alleging that the refusal of recognition by NCTE is a direct consequence of poor governance, lack of accountability, and unprofessional handling of academic departments by the university administration, ABVP leaders said that despite repeated representations, the JU authorities failed to take corrective measures.
Seeking immediate rectification of deficiencies pointed out by NCTE, ABVP demanded appointment of a qualified and competent Director in the Department of Physical Education and Sports, accountability of officials responsible for the loss of two academic years of students and immediate steps to restore recognition and resume admissions at the earliest.
ABVP warned that if the administration continues to ignore this serious issue, the organization will be compelled to intensify its agitation in the interest of students.
