MIER CC seals semifinal berth with 6-wicket win over Super Striker

Jammu, Jan 16: MIER Cricket Club registered a convincing six-wicket victory over Super Striker Cricket Club in the 3rd quarterfinal of the Rajinder Saini & Sandeep Singh Memorial Under-16 (T-30) Cricket Tournament, played here today.
After winning the toss, Super Striker opted to bat first and posted a competitive total of 187 runs for the loss of five wickets in the stipulated 30 overs. Akash led the charge with a splendid knock of 80 runs, studded with two sixes and nine boundaries. Viraj contributed a valuable 42 runs with five boundaries, while Chaitanya Dogra chipped in with 27 runs, including five boundaries. For MIER, Sam and Mohit were the pick of the bowlers, claiming two wickets each, while Azan accounted for one wicket.
In reply, MIER Cricket Club chased down the target comfortably, scoring 188 runs for four wickets in 27.5 overs to win the match by six wickets. Adhyan Bhushan starred with the bat, scoring an impressive 65 runs with 10 boundaries and was adjudged the Player of the Match. Manveer Singh played a crucial knock of 59 runs, hitting one six and 11 boundaries, while Rudra Mani added 26 runs with three boundaries. From Super Striker, Adil, Kavish Khajuria, Harman Jot Singh and Mayank shared one wicket each.
Meanwhile, on the basis of average, Laxmi Cricket Club has qualified directly for the final. The second finalist will be decided in tomorrow’s semifinal clash between MIER Cricket Club and Janta Sports Cricket Club.
