JAMMU, Jan 17: The District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) Jammu organised a three-day capacity building programme on project-based and experiential learning from January 14 to 16.
A statement said the programme was attended by 50 teachers drawn from 15 educational zones of Jammu district.
It aimed at improving classroom practices in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, with focus on competency-based teaching, experiential methods and effective project planning, it said.
The programme was inaugurated by Principal DIET Jammu, Dr R G Dogra, after an opening prayer.
Addressing the participants, Dr Dogra said that training becomes meaningful only when teachers apply the learning in their classrooms.
He emphasised that NEP 2020 calls for active, child-centred and evidence-based teaching, and urged teachers to adopt these practices with commitment.
Senior faculty member Sarabjit Kour highlighted the role of teachers as instructional leaders and stressed the importance of proper planning and flexibility to meet the needs of diverse learners.
During the training, teachers were introduced to experiential learning techniques, inquiry-based teaching, collaborative work, rubric-based assessment and the design of simple classroom projects.
Participants shared their classroom experiences and discussed ways to implement project-based learning even in schools with limited resources.
Activities and demonstrations helped teachers understand how to ensure meaningful student participation.
Pre- and post-assessments showed an improvement in teachers’ understanding of project-based and experiential learning. DIET Jammu will conduct follow-up visits to monitor implementation, and teachers will submit classroom-based evidence from their schools.
HOD CMDE Jamil Ahmed delivered the vote of thanks and appreciated the efforts of resource persons, faculty and participants.
Certificates were awarded to teachers from all 15 educational zones.
