JAMMU, Jan 18: Farooq Ahmed Bhat from the Srinagar division was elected as J&K Circle president and R K Bhat from the Jammu division as the Circle secretary of the Federation of National Postal Organizations (FNPO) during the Circle Conference of the organization held at Press Club Jammu.
This was stated by FA Rishi, Circle convener of FNPO, while addressing a press conference at Press Club Jammu. He informed that the elections were conducted in a democratic and transparent manner and witnessed active participation of delegates from Jammu, Srinagar and Baramulla postal divisions. Rishi revealed that a 15-member body was also formed and their names will be announced within two days.
Giving details of the conference, Rishi said that prior to the elections, the first session of the conference was devoted to organizational review. During this session, the annual report of the union was presented before the house, highlighting the activities, struggles and achievements of FNPO over the past year. The report was discussed threadbare and was unanimously approved by the delegates, reflecting collective confidence in the functioning of the organization.
Rishi further said that the conference served as an important platform to deliberate on various pressing issues concerning Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS). Key among these was the proposed 8th Pay Commission and the expected benefits to GDS employees. Delegates also discussed several other long-pending demands and welfare measures aimed at improving the service conditions, social security and financial stability of Gramin Dak Sevaks.
He said that strong resolutions were adopted to pursue these issues vigorously with the postal authorities and the Government at appropriate levels. Rishi emphasized that FNPO remains committed to protecting the rights and interests of Gramin Dak Sevaks and will continue its struggle to ensure fair pay, job security and welfare benefits for its members.
