JAMMU, Jan 18: The Jammu and Kashmir National Health Mission Employees Association (JKNHMEA) today once again reiterated its long-pending demand for the formulation of a comprehensive regularisation policy for employees working under NHM in the Union Territory.
Highlighting the plight of NHM employees, the Association in a statement, stated that thousands of workers have been rendering uninterrupted services for the past 18 years under difficult and challenging conditions, yet continue to work without job security, service benefits or social security safeguards.
Despite forming the backbone of the public healthcare delivery system in Jammu and Kashmir, the genuine issues of NHM employees remain unresolved, the Association said.
Abdul Rauoof, chief spokesperson of JKNHMEA, appealed to all the Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) to raise the long-pending demands of NHM employees in the upcoming Assembly Session scheduled to commence from February 2, 2026.
“NHM employees have devoted nearly two decades of their lives to strengthening the healthcare system of Jammu and Kashmir, yet they continue to live in uncertainty due to the absence of a regularisation policy and job security,” Rauoof said.
He emphasized that the Association represents more than 12,000 NHM employees working across various districts of the Union Territory.
The association also urged the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, to personally intervene in the matter and ensure a secure future for NHM employees.
“We earnestly request the CM to take a compassionate and decisive stand to safeguard the future of over 12,000 NHM employees who have served the people of Jammu and Kashmir with dedication and commitment,” he stated.
