JAMMU, Jan 21: Rajeev Pandita, president of the BJP Kashmir Displaced District (KDD), held a meeting today with the Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Nityanand Rai at New Delhi.
The meeting focused on the immediate redressal of several issues concerning the Kashmiri Hindu community.
During the interaction, Pandita extended his gratitude for the historic steps taken by the Government of India under the leadership of PM, Narendra Modi and Home Minister, Amit Shah and also submitted a comprehensive memorandum primarily urging for the immediate enhancement of monthly cash relief for displaced families which was increased in 2014 and 2018.
He highlighted that the assistance has not been revised since 2018, causing significant financial hardship for nearly 18,000 families who are struggling to cope with the rising cost of living and inflation over the last eight years.
The memorandum also brought to the Minister’s attention the serious matter of illegal encroachments on temple lands and private immovable properties across the Kashmir Valley. Pandita emphasized the need for a more robust and transparent mechanism to restore these ancestral assets to their rightful owners and protect the community’s religious heritage.
Furthermore, the BJP KDD president discussed the administrative hurdles that continue to prevent the smooth extension of Central Social Welfare Schemes to displaced Kashmiri Pandits. He specifically mentioned the technical issues surrounding the Ayushman Bharat health cards and other benefits that the community is currently unable to access due to procedural ambiguities.
KDD president also advocated for the welfare of Non-dispalced Kashmiri Pandits residing in Kashmir and PM Package employees addressing concerns related to their security, housing, service, promotion, absorption in State cadre and economic stability.
Minister gave a very patient hearing to all the points raised and assured his full support in resolving these long-standing grievances with the utmost priority.
In his concluding statement, Rajeev Pandita reaffirmed that the BJP KDD remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring justice, dignity, and a better future for every member of the community, while maintaining complete faith in the central leadership.
