JAMMU, Jan 22: An employee of the Jammu University was found hanging from a tree within the university campus today, triggering concern among the staff and the students.
The deceased has been identified as Balwan Singh, 57, a resident of Hiranagar, who was posted as a Section Officer in the MBA Department. He was currently residing in the University’s Staff Quarters.
Officials said some passerby noticed Balwan hanging from a tree near Mathematics Department early in the morning and informed police.
Accordingly, a team from Police Post Nehru Market arrived at the crime scene and shifted the varsity employee to Government Medical College Jammu, where the attending doctors declared him as dead on arrival.
The body has been shifted to the mortuary for post-mortem examination, while police have initiated an investigation to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident.
