KATHUA, Jan 22: The public from Jakhol, Jathana, Rajbagh, Barnoti, Jasrota and its adjoining areas in Kathua, have expressed strong resentment over the delay being caused by the PW(R&B) Department authorities on the construction of Dadora (Jakhole) to Shiv Gufa (Mahanaal) road.
Residents of the area and members of Mahadev Sanatan Dharam Sabha Shiv Gufa, Mahanaal (Jakhol) in a press statement here said that a detailed project report (DPR) for this 1.20 km link road was prepared by the office of Executive Engineer R&B Division Kathua in January last year but the work could not be started.
Then the members of the Shiv Gufa Mandir Committee along with some prominent locals met the Dy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary, who asked the concerned officers for the status. It was decided to prepare a fresh DPR for the road project. The new DPR worth Rs 337.40 lakh stands submitted by the Executive Engineer Kathua to the Superintending Engineer, R&B Circle Samba-Kathua long back. But the construction of road is nowhere in-sight.
They further pointed out that thousands of devotees from Kathua area, besides parts of Samba-Jammu and adjoining Punjab visit this Mini-Amarnath Ji Gufa at Jakhole in Kathua and huge rush is witnessed on the occasion of Maha Shivratri festival, but neither Tourism Department, nor District Administration has shown much interest in the development of this shrine. The committee with public donations has ensured better development of this shrine.
They reminded the Dy Chief Minister- Surinder Choudhary to fulfill his commitment and ensure early construction of this road where the faith of thousands of people is connected. They also urged Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Rajesh Sharma to provide funds for the further development and ensuring facilities at this shrine.
