JAMMU, Jan 29: In a major effort to bring high-end heart care to the children of Jammu and Kashmir, SMVD Narayana Superspeciality Hospital organized a specialized free paediatric cardiology camp today at SMVD Narayana Multispeciality Clinic, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu.
Led by Dr Sushant Kumar Sharma, Senior Consultant in Cardiology, the camp served as a critical screening point for families who traveled out of town from distant and remote villages of Billawar, Bani, Basohli, Kathua and Samba.
The initiative has already benefited approximately 20 children to date, with 6 new cases of Congenital Heart Disease identified during today’s camp alone. These children will now be referred for advanced treatment at the main Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Superspeciality Hospital in Katra, where their procedures will be covered under the Ayushman Bharat scheme.
Highlighting the Hospital’s unique capabilities, Dr MM Mathavan, Facility Director, SMVDNSH stated, “This is a direct reflection of the shared vision of both the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board and Narayana Health, where our collective focus is now heavily centered on preventive health. We believe that early detection is the most effective cure”.

The camp, which ran from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, emphasizes the clinic’s role as a vital bridge for patients in Jammu, ensuring they can access world-class expertise without the need for extensive travel to other states. By providing screening at the city level and full surgical support in Katra, the Hospital continues to redefine cardiac care accessibility for the people of J&K.
