GRP arrests two with heroin-like substance

JAMMU, Feb 2: Government Railway Police (GRP) Jammu today claimed they have arrested two alleged drug peddlers with 8.50 grams of heroin-like substance.
During routine checking at Railway Phatak, Budhi, an Apache motorcycle (HP-39C-5475) driven by two persons was intercepted, a police official said.
On questioning, he said, the biker identified himself as Manjit Singh of Village Dudhiana Khurd, Hoshiarpur, Punjab while the pillion rider was identified as Sunil Sharma of Bagan, Tehsil Billawar, District Kathua.
When the duo was put to search, he said, 8.50 grams of heroin-like substance was recovered from the possession of the pillion rider, the police official said.
According to him, both the accused persons were found to be carrying the contraband with common intention and abetment.
Accordingly, the accused were arrested and booked in case FIR number 01/2026 under sections 8/21/22/29 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station GRP Kathua and further investigation entrusted to Inspector Shravan Rana, incharge Police Post GRP Budhi.
