SRINAGAR, Feb 3: The J&K National Health Mission Employees Association (JKNHMEA) today demanded the immediate revision of pay scales and formulation of a long-pending regularisation policy for employees working under the National Health Mission (NHM).
JKNHMEA Chief Spokesperson Abdul Rauoof expressed deep concern over what he termed the continued neglect and injustice faced by thousands of NHM employees in J&K.
He said these workers, despite being the backbone of primary healthcare delivery, continue to survive on paltry and stagnant honorariums.
Rauoof said NHM employees have sacrificed their prime years in service of public health, working tirelessly in far-flung, difficult and high-risk areas, often with limited resources and immense pressure.
“Despite their unwavering commitment, they are struggling to meet basic household needs amid soaring inflation. This is not just an administrative delay; it is silent suffering,” he remarked.
Reiterating the Association’s stand, he stressed the urgent need for a humane, fair and time-bound regularisation policy.
He pointed out that many NHM employees have completed a decade or more of continuous service but continue to work under uncertainty, without job security, social safety or dignity.
Making a fervent appeal to the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and the Minister for Health and Medical Education, Rauoof urged the leadership to translate assurances into decisive action.
He expressed hope that the present Government would rise above bureaucratic inertia and deliver long-overdue justice to those who stood firmly with the healthcare system during its most difficult times.
The Association warned that if their genuine and humanitarian demands continue to be ignored, they would be left with no option but to intensify their peaceful and democratic agitation, while reaffirming their commitment to dialogue and resolution in the larger interest of patients and public health in J&K.
