Amritsar girl Diya Sharma earns national acclaim, shares vision for New India with PM Modi

CHANDIGARH, Feb 6 : Diya Sharma, a young resident of Amritsar, has brought immense pride to Punjab by securing a spot among the top 20 youth leaders in the prestigious ‘Viksit Bharat Young Leader Dialogue.’ The highlight of her achievement was a personal meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, where she presented her innovative ideas for the future of the nation.

Organised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, the program culminated in a meeting on January 12 at Bharat Mandapam. Representing Punjab on the national stage, Diya shared her vision on the theme ‘Making India the Startup Capital of the World’. She emphasised the critical role of youth energy in driving economic growth and proposed several key initiatives, including the establishment of Startup Support Mission Cells and dedicated Startup Desks within Indian Embassies to facilitate global expansion for local entrepreneurs.

The journey to this achievement was rigorous, beginning in September with the Viksit Bharat Young Leader Dialogue Quiz. Diya successfully navigated multiple elimination rounds, including essay writing, state-level presentations, and intensive interviews.

Out of approximately 3,000 youngsters selected nationwide to present their ideas before a jury, Diya emerged as part of the elite top 20 group invited to interact directly with the Prime Minister. Notably, she mentioned that aspects of her suggestions regarding support for startups solving real-life problems are already being reflected in the union Budget 2026.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a keen interest in Diya’s proposals, encouraging her to disseminate these ideas to a wider audience through digital platforms like blogs and vlogs.

Diya, a dedicated civil services aspirant, stated that her ultimate goal is to serve the nation as an IAS officer. She described her interaction with the Prime Minister as a significant milestone that has strengthened her resolve to contribute to India’s administrative framework.

In an inspiring message to the youth, Diya urged her peers to step forward and voice their ideas. She encouraged young Indians to utilise government platforms like the ‘MY Bharat’ portal to seek opportunities rather than keeping their innovations confined to their homes.

Reflecting on the achievement, Diya’s mother, Vishali Sharma, expressed profound pride, noting that her daughter’s journey from a small-scale quiz to a national stage was the result of consistent hard work and resilience. Despite various domestic challenges, Diya remained focused on her academics and leadership goals, earning praise from her teachers and family alike. (UNI)
