SAMBA, Feb 7: In a proud moment for Jammu & Kashmir, Baksheesh Singh from Ramgarh clinched the bronze medal at the 5th India Open International Kickboxing Championship 2026, held at KD Jadhav Indoor Stadium, IG Sports Complex, New Delhi.
The championship featured 963 competitors from 37 national teams, making it one of the largest kickboxing events of the year. Baksheesh, competing in the Point Fight Older Cadet (13–15 years) Under-47 kg category, won against opponents from Gujarat and Tamil Nadu before securing the bronze after a hard-fought bout against a competitor from Uzbekistan.
A student of The Pathseekers International School, Ramgarh (Class IX), he was guided by his coach Pankaj Kumar, whose mentorship was instrumental in his success. Hailing from Village Jerda, Tehsil Ramgarh, District Samba, Baksheesh’s achievement highlights the immense potential of students from border areas when given proper opportunities.
