SRINAGAR, Feb 7: The Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) Srinagar Bench has directed the Sports and Youth Services Department to release the withheld salary of an employee within 15 days.
The applicant, Bilquis Mir, approached the Tribunal seeking a direction for the respondents to release salary that had been withheld since November 2023. The petition claimed that the salary was legitimately earned for services actually rendered to the department during this period.
After hearing Advocate S A Andotra via video conferencing for the applicant while as Syed Musaib, Deputy Advocate General (DAG) for the respondents, the CAT Bench issued a formal notice to the respondents for filing a formal reply.
In the meanwhile, the CAT Bench comprising Justice Ritu Tagore (Member Judicial) and Prasant Kumar (Member Administrative) issued an interim measure to provide immediate relief. The Bench directed the respondents to release all legitimately earned salary for the period starting November 2023 to the present date and complete the payment process within 15 days of the order.
