SRINAGAR, Feb 7: Preparations for the 10th National SnowShoe Championship–2026 were reviewed at a meeting chaired by Waseem Raja, Joint Director Tourism, Kashmir at Tourist Reception Centre, Srinagar. The championship, organised by the J&K SnowShoe Association in collaboration with the Directorate of Tourism, Kashmir, will be held at Sonamarg from February 13 to 16, with participation from around 150 athletes from 15 States and Union Territories.
Officials, including Bilal Mukhtar (CEO, Sonamarg Development Authority), Sheikh Enayat, Mudasir Kichloo and Dr Altaf-ur-Rehman (General Secretary, J&K SnowShoe Association), reviewed arrangements to ensure smooth conduct. Raja emphasized providing best facilities and hospitality to athletes, calling them tourism ambassadors of Kashmir. Conducted under the SnowShoe Federation of India, the event aims to promote Sonamarg as a winter sports and adventure tourism hub, with T-shirts, caps, medals, and trophies to be unveiled on February 10.
