5 hurt as 2 cars collide

AKHNOOR, Feb 9: At least five persons were were injured one of them seriously when two speeding cars met head on collision in Akhnoor area of Jammu district today.
Reports said these cars are moving on Jammu -Akhnoor-Poonch National Highway. The collision was so severe that both cars were thrown in opposite directions. A woman in one of the cars was seriously injured, while four others sustained minor injuries.
According to reports, on Monday morning, two speeding cars, JK12D-3900 and JK0DU-2939, collided near Khuga village on National Highway 144A in Akhnoor area. One car had five occupants, while the other had only the driver. The woman, Gurmeet Kaur (50), a resident of Maira Mendirya, was seriously injured. She was admitted to the Army Hospital in Akhnoor for treatment, from where doctors referred her to Government Medical College, Jammu. Four other occupants of the car sustained minor injuries.
The entire incident was captured on a CCTV camera installed on the roadside. The collision was so powerful that both cars were severely damaged. Traffic on the road was also disrupted for some time.
Upon receiving information about the accident, the police reached the spot, seized the CCTV footage, and have started an investigation.
