SSP Kishtwar reviews crime, security situation

KISHTWAR, Feb 9: Senior Superintendent of Police Kishtwar, Naresh Singh, today chaired a crime and security review meeting at the District Police Office Kishtwar to assess the prevailing law-and-order situation and preparedness for upcoming events.
Officers from Sub-Divisions Kishtwar, Chatroo, Atholi and Marwah briefed the SSP on area-wise crime trends, investigation status and ground-level challenges.
The meeting reviewed compliance with directions issued in the previous review, pendency of investigations, disposal rates and timelines to ensure speedy and lawful probe of cases.
The overall security scenario was also discussed in detail, including border-area vigilance, checkpoint operations and quick response mechanisms.
Officers reported continued area domination through cordon-and-search operations, night patrols and coordination with Army and CRPF units.
Directions were issued to strengthen Quick Reaction Teams and enhance CCTV surveillance in vulnerable areas.
The SSP stressed the need to further strengthen the beat system, improve surveillance and intensify drives against drug trafficking and illegal bovine smuggling.
He also called for heightened vigilance and better inter-agency coordination, particularly in the Chatroo and Marwah sectors, to counter any militant activity.
Emphasizing sustained field presence and community engagement, SSP Kishtwar directed officers to remain alert in sensitive areas and generate actionable intelligence to thwart any attempt to disturb peace in the district.
The meeting was attended by Additional SP Kishtwar Pardeep Singh Goria, DySP Headquarters Dr Ishan Gupta, DySP PC Sharvan Singh, SDPO Marwah Ravinder Singh, SHOs and other officers of District Police Kishtwar.
