JAMMU, Feb 10: A dominant all-round performance led by Rudrakshi Chib and Sandhya Sayal saw Jammu & Kashmir register an emphatic 6-wicket victory over Gujarat in the Senior Women’s One-Day Tournament at the ACA Cricket Academy Ground, Guwahati here today.
Opting to bowl first, J&K’s spinners wreaked havoc, bowling Gujarat out for a mere 111 in under 40 overs. Off-spinners Sandhya Sayal (4/29) and Rudrakshi Chib (4/39) shared 8 wickets, while seamer Sarla Devi chipped in with 1 wicket. Gujarat’s resistance came from Simran (32), Nidhiben Desai (24), Charlie Solanki (23) and Jiya Jain (16).
Chasing a modest target, J&K encountered early wickets but recovered swiftly. Rubia Syed played a scorching knock of 64 off 46 balls, which included 8 fours and 4 sixes, guiding J&K to victory in just 17.1 overs. Chitra Singh Jamwal supported well with a composed 27 off 57 balls. Despite a valiant effort from Krutikaben Patel, who claimed all four J&K wickets for 20 runs, Gujarat could not stem the flow of runs.
Rudrakshi Chib was named player of the match for her match-winning performance with the ball. NS Negi, J&K’s Head Coach, accompanied the team throughout the tournament.
