Srinagar, Feb 10: Higher reaches of Kashmir received fresh snowfall today as night temperatures rose due to overcast conditions across the region and day temperatures dipped.
Gulmarg and other higher reaches of Kashmir received snowfall early today. Hundreds of tourists in Gulmarg were pleasantly surprised as they woke up to snowfall in the early hours.
The plains had a drizzle in the morning and it was breezy during the day and chilly winds were blowing leading to drop in the day temperatures across the region.
Srinagar recorded a day temperature of 6.7 degree Celsius which is 3.3 degree Celsius above normal. Qazigund and Pahalgam recorded 7.7 degree Celsius and 7.0 degree Celsius respectively which is 2.2 degree Celsius below normal for Qazigund and normal for Pahalgam. Kupwara, Kokernag and Gulmarg recorded 2.3 degree Celsius, 7.1 degree Celsius and minus 0.5 degree Celsius respectively which is 7.1 degree Celsius, 1.1 degree Celsius and 2.2 degree Celsius respectively for these places.
The night temperatures across the region barring Gulmarg and Pahalgam was above freezing. Srinagar recorded a minimum of 3.3 degrees Celsius, Qazigund a minimum temperature of 2.6 degrees Celsius, Pahalgam minus 0.4 degrees Celsius, Kokernag recorded a low of minus 1.7 degrees Celsius, Kupwara’s minimum temperature settled at zero degrees Celsius and Gulmarg settled at minus 3.4 degree Celsius.
