DIG conducts review meeting regarding Maha Shivratri Mela

REASI, Feb 11: To review security, administrative and logistical arrangements for the smooth conduct of the forthcoming Maha Shivratri Mela, DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range, Sarah Rizvi, chaired a high-level coordination meeting here today.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on key aspects including accommodation facilities for yatris/pilgrims, CCTV surveillance, proper barricading, traffic regulation and overall security preparedness.
The DIG directed all concerned departments to submit a verified list of hired labourers engaged during the mela period to ensure thorough security vetting. She stressed that all CCTV cameras installed along the yatra track must remain fully functional and instructed that the control room be shifted closer to the Police Station for better coordination and real-time monitoring.
She further ordered the installation of temporary CCTV cameras at the bus stand during the mela days to enhance surveillance at key congregation points.
Emphasizing strict administrative oversight, Rizvi directed that magistrates deployed on mela duty remain vigilant, proactive and responsive to any emerging situation. Paramilitary forces were instructed to maintain heightened alertness and ensure foolproof security along the entire pilgrimage route.
Special emphasis was laid on seamless coordination among Police, CAPF, Army and Civil Administration to effectively manage crowd movement, regulate traffic and maintain law and order.
The meeting was attended by Nidhi Malik, Deputy Commissioner Reasi; SSP Reasi Paramvir Singh; the Executive Officer of Shiv Khori Shrine Board; representatives from various Civil Administration departments; BD, ARTO; officials from CAPF and other concerned departments.
