Pakistan Linkage Unearthed: Police seize drone-dropped heroin; Two arrested

KATHUA: Kathua Police, under the supervision of Mohita Sharma, IPS, has arrested two individuals for smuggling heroin from Pakistan through a drone. Approximately 150 grams of heroin has been recovered in the operation.

The accused have been booked under FIR No. 71/2026 under Sections 8/21/22/29 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Kathua.

Specific information was received regarding a drone-dropping incident along the J&K–Punjab border near Nagri, Kathua. Acting promptly on this input, a detailed investigation was initiated.

With the assistance of technical analysis and CCTV footage examination, the first accused, Jatin S/o Ajeet Kumar R/o Manwal, Pathankot, was apprehended. During further investigation, the second accused, Danish Dogra @ Sajan S/o Shamsher R/o Jakhbar, Kathua, was arrested as part of the forward linkage.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that the accused were in contact with a Pakistan-based smuggler through VoIP calls and had received the heroin consignment with the intention of selling it to vulnerable youth for monetary gain.

Further investigation is underway to unearth the entire smuggling network.

These arrests demonstrate the firm resolve of Kathua Police to combat the narcotics trade in the region. The police urge citizens to come forward and cooperate in efforts to curb the menace of drugs, which is severely affecting the youth of the nation.
