JAMMU, Feb 16: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress today raised serious questions over the diversion of 94% share of MPLAD funds during past over three years by nominated BJP MP for Rajya Sabha, Gulam Ali Khatana, to UP, more particularly to one district and the execution of major shares through some particular firms only, demanding its investigation.
The party also questioned the failures of the authorities to take action against BJP MLA Vikram Randhawa accused of illegal occupation on JDA land, for years.
The party also raised the neglect of Railway project to Rajouri Poonch and Doda – Kishtwar besides the public unrest in Katra over Ropeway project.
Addressing a press conference JKPCC chief spokesperson, Ravinder Sharma raised serious concern over the issue exposed by a national daily, regarding Member of Parliament Gulam Ali Khatana’s utilization of MPLAD funds outside J&K, in UP, especially in one district of Shahjanpur, and a major portion through four firms.
Accompanied by senior leader Ex- MLC Ved Mahajan and spokesperson Namrata Sharma alongwith Neeraj Gupta, Sohit Sharma and Vijyant Pathania, Sharma questioned BJP and Khatana to justify the diversion and utilization of 94 funds outside J&K and a major portion to one district through some selected firms.
This is grave injustice to the people of J&K especially his own Gujjar- Bakerwal community who need lot of facilities in view of their living conditions in difficult terrains and other such deprived and deserving sections.
The Government and authorities should investigate into the fact and nexus of only four firms executing most of the works, as one firm has got a major share.
Party spokesperson, Namrta Sharma questioned need to divert MPLAD by him to a state already having around 80 Lok Sabha MPs and 31 Rajya Sabha MPs, while Jammu & Kashmir-with barely nine total parliamentary representatives-continues to struggle with unemployment, weak infrastructure, and limited developmental outreach. Such diversion appears politically unjust, morally indefensible, and contrary to representative democracy. She further raised concern regarding the conduct of Vikram Randhawa, against whom questions of encroachment on public/JDA land have surfaced through a JDA notice of year 2021 but no concrete outcome has been seen.
