PM meets Grand Mufti of India, Sheikh Abubakr Ahmad, praises efforts toward social harmony and education

NEW DELHI, Feb 16 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday shared details of his meeting with Sheikh Abubakr Ahmad Sahab, the Grand Mufti of India, describing their interaction as “very good” and wide-ranging.

In a post on X, the Prime Minister said, “Had a very good interaction with Sheikh Abubakr Ahmad Sahab, Grand Mufti of India. We exchanged views on a wide range of issues. His efforts to further social harmony, brotherhood and improve education are noteworthy.”

According to officials familiar with the meeting, the discussion covered issues related to communal harmony, educational advancement, and initiatives aimed at strengthening social cohesion across communities.

The Prime Minister is understood to have appreciated the Grand Mufti’s outreach efforts and his emphasis on inclusive growth through education.

Sheikh Abubakr Ahmad, a prominent Islamic scholar and community leader, has been actively involved in promoting interfaith dialogue and educational initiatives, particularly among underprivileged sections. His work has often focused on fostering unity and mutual respect in a diverse society.

The meeting comes at a time when the government has been repeatedly emphasising the importance of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas” – a vision of inclusive development and collective progress.
