JAMMU, Feb 16: Police Veterans of District Jammu Policemen League today held their monthly meeting at the Retirees’ Office in the Gandhi Nagar area under the chairmanship of President S Karanjit Singh.
A large number of retired police officers attended the meeting, including former IPS and JKPS officers, SSPs, SPs and DSPs.

They highlighted discrepancies in pay and pension among retirees of the same rank and demanded the establishment of a Police Welfare Board to address the problems of ex-policemen.
The members also sought a special recruitment drive for children of retired police personnel and urged that retirees visiting police stations and other units should be given priority attention.
The veterans thanked Police Headquarters and the concerned authorities for providing a good team of doctors at the Police Hospital in Jammu and requested that free medicines be made available to all retired personnel.
They further appealed for similar meetings to be held at zonal and district levels.
The members also appreciated District Police Jammu for extending logistical support for the smooth conduct of the meeting. The meeting concluded with tea.
