SRINAGAR, Feb 17: The State Investigation Agency (SIA) Kashmir has filed a chargesheet before a competent court against two accused persons for their alleged involvement in unlawful and anti-national activities linked to the banned outfit Hizbul Mujahideen.
The accused have been identified as Altaf Hussain Wagay of Reban Gund Behram in Shopian and Shabir Ahmad Sheikh of Rampora, Qaimoh in Kulgam, who is presently operating from across the border.
According to officials, the case relates to the circulation of anti-national, secessionist and pro-terror content on social media platforms aimed at radicalizing youth and disturbing public order in Jammu and Kashmir.
An FIR number 01/2025 was registered against them at Police Station CIK/SIA Kashmir under relevant sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) following credible inputs, they said.
Officials further said the investigation revealed that Pakistan-based banned terror outfits, including Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed, along with their associates and sympathizers, were allegedly engaged in spreading anti-India and secessionist propaganda through online and offline means.
The objective, they said, was to incite disaffection, challenge the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country, and motivate vulnerable youth towards terrorist activities.
During the probe, the SIA identified several social media accounts run under fake names by the accused to avoid detection, they said.
According to them, the SIA also gathered evidence establishing their role in promoting secessionist ideology and supporting terror activities.
Meanwhile, further investigation into the case is underway to identify other suspects and possible links in the case.
