KUPWARA, Feb 18: Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Shrikant Suse today chaired monthly meeting of the District Level Committee under the Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) to review measures undertaken to curb drug abuse and trafficking in the district.
The meeting was attended by SSP Handwara, ADC Kupwara, ASP Kupwara, ACD, CEO, CMO, Principals of Government Degree Colleges (GDCs),Tehsildars, DFOs, ARTO and officials of concerned departments.
The Deputy Commissioner sought detailed feedback from all departments on progress in key areas, including the functioning of ATF and DDRC, ongoing awareness drives, CCTV surveillance in hotspot areas, Nasha Mukt Panchayat initiatives, rehabilitation efforts, and related activities.
Emphasizing the need for sustained and coordinated action, the DC directed departments to work proactively and aggressively against drug abuse and addiction. He stressed that collective efforts are essential to making the district drug-free.
On CCTV installations, the DC reviewed action taken by various departments including MCs, Schools, Colleges and RDD.He directed MCs to ensure immediate measures to make CCTVs functional in towns.
He also reviewed effectiveness of awareness drives being conducted under Nasha Mukta Bharat Abhiyan and directed to ensure adequate training of counsellors and their further proactive role in these awareness drives.
