JAMMU, Feb 18: The Finance Department of the Jammu and Kashmir Government has enhanced the maximum limit of death-cum-retirement gratuity (DCRG) for Government employees from Rs 20 lakh to Rs 25 lakh.
The decision followed the Dearness Allowance (DA) reaching 50 percent of the basic pay with effect from January 1, 2024 under the 7th Pay Commission recommendations.
An office memorandum issued by the Finance Department clarified that as per provisions under the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Service Regulations, the gratuity ceiling increases by 25 percent whenever DA rises by 50 percent of the basic pay.
The Finance Department stated that the enhancement will be deemed effective from January 1, 2024, the date on which the DA reached 50 percent.
The clarification was issued after several references were received seeking guidance on the revised gratuity limit.
The order has been issued by the Finance Department to ensure uniform implementation of the revised ceiling for eligible employees working in the regular pay levels.
