Srinagar, Feb 18 : The High Court has issued notice and sought response from the authorities to the plea challenging the recent selection of civil judge in subordinate judiciary.
The division bench of Justice Sindhu Sharma and Justice Shahzad Azeem issued notice to Registrar General of High Court, Commissioner Secretary to Law Department and Chairman, Secretary and controller examinations of J&K Public Service Commission for filing of objections to the plea seeking quashing of select list.
The counsel appearing for the PSC advocate Shah Amir waived the notice in open court and prayed for filing of reply to the contentions raised in the petition.

During the course of arguments, Senior Advocate R A Jan on behalf of the aggrieved candidates submitted before the court that manifest on the impugned result notification the entire block of 106 candidates including the petitioners placed consecutively at the Serial no. 144 to 249, all of whom appeared at the Examination Centre Srinagar have been en masse declared failed in the main examination, inhering a circumstance so glaring, egregious, and indefensible that strikes at the very root of the sanctity of the selection process.
25 candidates approached the court as they are aggrieved of the selection process initiated and undertaken by the PSC for selection and consequent appointment against the advertised 42 posts as well as its culmination viz result of the selection process.
They prayed that the selection process as well as the result of the selection process be declared as non est in law and the same be quashed and the PSC be refrained from proceedings with acting in furtherance of the result notification.
“The respondents be directed to undertake afresh selection process, evaluation and marking of answer scripts in accordance with mandate of law and redraw the select list in accordance with inter se merit secured by the competing candidates on the basis of uniform, consistent and fair evaluation and proceed and conclude the selection process thereafter”, reads the plea.
