Not Ministers, only CM listens to MLAs’ issues: Shagun

JAMMU, Feb 18: National Conference (NC) MLA from Zadibal, Tanvir Sadiq today expressed utmost concern over ignoring of the largely circulated news papers by the J&K Government while allotting Government advertisements and strongly advocated for scrapping of policy framed in this regard in the year 2022.
Participating in debate on grants of various ministries under the control of Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, Tanvir Sadiq decried Government’s advertisement policy in this regard saying that during the reply to his question in the House recently, he was informed that lesser known news papers including “Fish Eye , Lake View, Tesri Duniya etc’’ were given the maximum advertisements by the Government.

Sadiq said it is unfortunate that largely circulated newspapers from the UT including Daily Excelsior, Greater Kashmir, Amar Ujala, Aftab etc were ignored. He strongly advocated for scrapping the policy framed in 2022 in this regard and the leading news papers be given maximum advertisements.
He also demanded that accredited journalists be given pension after retirement and Government should also frame a policy in this regard. Moreover, journalism courses for students should be started after 10+2, he added.
Sadiq, who showed concern over garbage crisis in the J&K, said garbage disposal is major issue in the UT and stressed on its scientific disposal. He also demanded that a tourist village be established in Srinagar.
Sadiq also lambasted the BJP MP who has been nominated from J&K for spending his MP LAD fund in UP. “He is demanding accommodation in Srinagar and spent 96 percent of his MP LAD funds in UP,’’ the MLA added.
BJP’s Shagun Parihar took Government to task for not implementing Government’s Vision Document in rural belt. She also alleged that except Chief Minister no other Minister pays heed to MLAs demands or issues raised by them pertaining to their ministries.
Shagun, while participating in the debate was interrupted by Minister of Education and Health, Sakina Ittoo when she (MLA) raised the issue of schools during the debate and demanded that the Government should frame a policy that children of rich as well poor should study in Government schools. She also highlighted the dilapidated condition of roads and demanded hike in honorarium of Anganwari works besides adjustment of seasonal teachers in Government schools for remaining six months of the year by granting them salary for full year.
Shagun further demanded framing of a policy for Forest Corporation employees and creation of a separate Education Zone for Dachan in her constituency. Interrupting her, Sakina Ittoo said that these demands she was supposed to raise during the grants of her Ministry but on that day she did not say anything. However, undeterred Shagun said that Chief Minister is in the House and he (CM) only listens the MLAs problems while other ministers don’t listen.
Shagun said the Government should act and by blaming others the issues can’t be solved. She demanded that Kishtwar has lot of potential for tourism and a policy should be framed for promotion of tourism in those areas of UT which too have a great potential for tourism promotion. Shagun said Kishtwar is a beautiful place and has a lot of potential especially for adventure tourism. She regretted that nothing has been done so far in this regard. She demanded Dharma peak and Trisandiya Mata which have been neglected so far be brought on tourism map of J&K.
Shagun said Bimal Nag in Kishtwar district is more beautiful than Gulmarg and a tourism mela be held there and Safai Karamcharis be engaged in Parade Groud Kishtwar besides, the wages of Safai Karamcharis be released.
Zafar Khatana of NC demanded study Sinthan Top a tourist destination in his constituency besides, Chattabal in Chaturgul area of Shangus be also opened for tourists. He said. while digitalizing the land records the old names are not replaced by the present occupants of land and Executive Officer be deployed in Kokernag Municipality.
PDP MLA Rafiq Naik from Tral demanded that there should be ban on converting agriculture land for horticulture purposes or housing colonies. He said this will have serious repercussions for future of the UT.
NC MLA from Uri Sajjad Shafi demanded that Mohra Power House which is a heritage Project constructed by then Maharaja be restored. He demanded construction of micro power houses in his constituency and shortage of staff in PDD in his area be overcome. Besides, eco tourism, border tourism and pilgrimage tourism be promoted in his constituency.
