JAMMU, Feb 20: The Kashmiri Pandit Sabha (KPS), Jammu, in a meeting held under the leadership of it’s president, K K Khosa has expressed concern over recent reports of threats directed at the displaced community, particularly PM Package employees serving in the Valley. Posters reportedly circulated in the name of the Muslim Janbaaz Force in parts of South Kashmir have caused unease and revived painful memories associated with the events of 1989-90.
The Sabha observed that the Kashmiri Pandit community continues to live with the legacy of displacement and loss following the tragic exodus of the early 1990s. In this context, even isolated incidents of intimidation tend to create anxiety among minorities and must be handled with sensitivity and seriousness. Ensuring a secure and reassuring environment remains essential for sustaining confidence and fostering reconciliation.
While expressing faith in the efforts of the administration under the stewardship of Lt. Governor, Manoj Sinha, the Sabha has urged that all necessary steps be taken to prevent the spread of fear and to maintain a sense of security among vulnerable sections. Swift verification of such reports and transparent communication can go a long way in reassuring the community. The role of GOI under Narendra Modi and the Central agencies becomes very critical at this juncture.
The Sabha has also appealed to the elected leadership, including the National Conference Government, to approach the matter with empathy and statesmanship. Constructive public messaging that acknowledges the concerns of minorities will help build trust and reinforce the broader goal of inclusive peace. At this delicate stage, words and actions that promote reassurance and unity are especially important.
The Sabha reiterated that the path to lasting peace and the eventual return of displaced communities lies in sustained confidence-building, mutual trust, and an unwavering commitment to the safety and dignity of all citizens.
