Raising slogans, the protesting women said they have been working consistently to generate livelihood opportunities for themselves and other women in their respective areas, but the alleged rude and discouraging attitude of the officer had demoralized them. They claimed that instead of being supported in their efforts towards self-reliance and economic empowerment, they were being subjected to unprofessional and disrespectful treatment.
The SHG members further alleged that the conduct of the official had created an atmosphere of fear and dissatisfaction among various groups functioning under the mission in the district. “We are striving hard to stand on our own feet and help other women through our initiatives, but such behaviour discourages us and affects our work,” one of the protesters said.
Later, a delegation of the agitating women met the Deputy Commissioner Reasi, and submitted a formal complaint seeking action in the matter.
