Tribute paid to Victoria Cross Hero Parkash Singh

JAMMU, Feb 23: Chairman Ex-Servicemen Welfare Association (ESWA) Akhnoor, Lakhbir Singh Sohal, along with all the members of ESWA paid tribute to Jemadar Parkash Singh Chib on his 81st martyrdom anniversary.
Jemadar Parkash Singh Chib was awarded Victoria Cross for his extraordinary bravery during World War II on February 16, 1945.
The event was organized by Swaran Singh Chib, president of the Management Committee of the Victoria Cross Charitable Society, Nud, Akhnoor.
Brigade Commander 191 Brigade graced the occasion as chief guest. Distinguished dignitaries present on the occasion included the grandson and family members of Jemadar Parkash Singh Chib, representatives from various ex-servicemen groups as well as civil and Police officials.
Lakhbir Singh Sohal highlighted the commitment of ESWA Akhnoor to honour war heroes and support ex-servicemen welfare initiatives in the region.
The function concluded with floral tributes and pledges to preserve the memory of valiant heroes.
On this occasion, ESWA Akhnoor requested the government for construction of Sainik House in Akhnoor as a large numbers of ex-servicemen are there in the area.
