JAMMU, Feb 24: A special interactive session on “Evolving landscape of journalism” with Prof Sapna Naik, Director of the Educational Multimedia Research Centre (EMRC), University of Mysore, organized by the Department of Journalism and Media Studies was held here today at the University of Jammu.
The event was held under the supervision of Prof Garima Gupta, Head of the Department of Journalism and Media Studies and guidance of Prof Dushyant Kumar Rai.
The interaction aligns with the vision and commitment of Vice Chancellor Prof Umesh Rai, University of Jammu.
Prof Garima Gupta, Head, Department of Journalism and Media Studies, emphasized the importance of such interactive sessions that broaden the horizon of the media students and prepare them skillfully for the industry.
Prof Naik shared insights on the evolving landscape of Journalism, the growing responsibilities of media professionals, and the critical role of ethical reporting today.
She urged students to stay curious, socially aware and proactive, emphasizing: “Journalism is one profession that demands integrity, courage, and empathy.”
Drawing from her academic journey and experience in educational media, Prof. Naik inspired students to explore diverse storytelling formats, strengthen their research skills and adapt to emerging platforms while upholding core journalistic values.
Prof Dushyant Kumar Rai acknowledged the efforts of the resource person for sharing her media education experiences with the students that will help them shape and plan their career.
The session featured a lively Q&A, where students discussed career paths, academic growth and challenges for young journalists in a competitive media landscape.
Dr Pardeep Singh Bali, Dr Ramiyan Bhardwaj, Dr Ravia Gupta and Dr Kumerjit Chajgotra were also present during the inteaction.
