PATNA, Feb 24 : Union Food Processing Industries Minister and Lok Janshakti Party Ram Vilas national president Chirag Paswan on Tuesday termed the alleged lathi charge on protesting chowkidars and dafadars in Patna as extremely tragic and condemnable.
In a post on social media platform X, Paswan said the use of force against chowkidar and dafadar personnel, who were demonstrating in support of their demands, was deeply unfortunate. He said these personnel form the backbone of rural security and that suppressing their voices through force does not reflect a sensitive administration.
Calling the development serious and concerning, Paswan said his party has decided to send a delegation under the leadership of MP Arun Bharti to meet the Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister of Bihar at the earliest. The delegation will submit a detailed memorandum seeking resolution of their demands, permanent redressal of service-related issues and action against officials found responsible for the incident.
The union Minister said he would personally meet the Chief Minister to urge necessary steps for safeguarding the livelihood, social security and dignity of chowkidar and dafadar personnel, and to seek appropriate action against those accountable.
He said compromising with the livelihood and dignity of families who have served for years in the name of reforms is unacceptable, and added that ensuring respect and a secure future for those who safeguard villages is a collective responsibility of society and the government.
