Srinagar, Feb 24: Ruling National Conference (NC) Chief Spokesperson and MLA Zadibal Tanvir Sadiq today accused opposition parties of deliberately creating confusion among the public, asserting that such tactics would not weaken the party.
“The opposition is creating confusion among people – let them do it. The people trust the NC,” Sadiq told reporters here.

He alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), People’s Democratic Party (PDP), People’s Conference (PC) and Altaf Bukhari have “always resorted to such tactics” to weaken the NC.
“It will not affect us at all,” he said, adding that no NC leader has recently joined the BJP and that only “dalbadlu” (turncoats) have switched sides.
Taking a swipe at the Leader of Opposition (LoP), Sadiq said personal remarks against members of the treasury benches or the opposition reflect political failure.
“When a leader gets personal, it means he or she has lost,” he said, alleging that the LoP has not been effective inside or outside the Assembly.
He also criticised the induction of leaders who frequently switch parties, saying if the LoP believes such moves strengthen him, “then best of luck to them.”
“I would suggest that if the LoP wants to oppose, he should do so on issues. Personal jibes are unfortunate and reflect the opposition’s failure,” Sadiq said.
Referring to amendments made in Land Grants Act in 2022, he said many people lost land originally allotted to them in 1964. “There will be other important bills as well; I hope that the bill that we are bringing is taken up,” he added.
Describing the Assembly session as productive, Sadiq said a “people-friendly” budget was presented that reflected public aspirations.
He said the Chief Minister has assured that new welfare initiatives will be introduced every year.
Dismissing reports of internal discontent, Sadiq said MLAs are not unhappy with the party and described the issue involving Dr Bashir Ahmad Veeri as an isolated internal matter.
He said development works – both small and large – are ongoing across constituencies.
On allegations of outsourcing 24,000 jobs, raised particularly by the BJP, Sadiq reiterated that the NC’s promise of providing one lakh jobs remains firm.
“The process for one lakh jobs is underway. Beyond that, if we can generate more employment and secure it, that is a good thing. Will that not benefit 24,000 families? What is wrong in that?” he asked.
Accusing the opposition of misleading the public, Sadiq said people continue to trust the NC.
He added that the party has sought a five-year mandate to fulfil its manifesto promises and will present a detailed progress report at the end of its term.
