Samba police rescues 10 bovines, arrests smuggler

SAMBA, Feb 25: Samba police has foiled a bovine smuggling attempt in the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS) Vijaypur, arrested a bovine smuggler and rescued ten bovines from his clutches.
A police spokesperson said acting on information received from reliable sources, a team of Police Station, Vijaypur during vehicle checking at Naka NHW AIIMS, intercepted a Dumper bearing Registration Number, JK19A-3235 for its checking. During checking, ten bovines were found inside the vehicle which were tied in a cruel manner and were being transported illegally.
He said the bovine smuggler identified as Mohammad Sadiq, son of Mal Hussain of Disa Chak, tehsil Mahreen district Kathua has been arrested. All the bovines have been rescued and the vehicle involved in the illegal transportation of bovines has also been seized.
A case FIR No. 35/2026 U/S 223 BNS, 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station (PS) Vijaypur and investigation started.
