JAMMU, Feb 26: Bishnah Police have solved a theft case and recovered stolen gold jewellery worth Rs 4.57 lakh, officials said on Thursday.
The case was registered at Police Station Bishnah under FIR Number 31/2026 under Sections 331(3) and 305 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) following a complaint regarding the theft of gold ornaments from a house in Fatwal area of tehsil Bishnah.
During the course of investigation, police identified the accused as Baby Sharma, wife of Vishu Sharma, who had allegedly stolen the gold items from her maternal aunt’s residence.
Acting under the close supervision of the Station House Officer (SHO) of Police Station Bishnah and overall guidance of the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Jammu, a dedicated police team conducted sustained investigation and interrogation. The accused was confronted with technical and circumstantial evidence, which led to the voluntary recovery of the stolen jewellery from her possession.
The recovered items include one gold necklace, two gold rings and one pair of gold earrings. The total value of the recovered gold ornaments has been estimated at Rs 4,57,030.
Police said further investigation into the case is underway.
