PK for creation of separate UT for Pandits within Kashmir

‘Margdarshan a longstanding vision of KPs’

JAMMU, Feb 26: Terming Maragdarshan resolution of 1991 a corner stone of displaced Pandits struggle and long-standing vision of the community, Panun Kashmir (PK) today demanded further reorganisation of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir by creating a separate UT within Kashmir for the secure rehabilitation and return of displaced Hindus, with full Constitutional safeguards and administrative control.

The demand was made by PK chairman, Dr Ajay Chrungoo along with its vice chairmen, Shailender Aima and Daya Krishan Koul and senior leaders, Pran Raina, Shiban Krishan Handoo while talking to media persons here today.
PK also demanded separation of Jammu province as a State to ensure balanced federal representation and protection of regional aspirations.
It warned that restoration of Statehood to the present territorial configuration without structural safeguards risks recreating the very political and demographic imbalances that culminated in the events of 1989-90.
PK urged the Government of India to prioritize national security, civilization justice, and Constitutional guarantees before contemplating any alteration in the present political status of J&K.
It also warned the Government of India (GoI) that any move to alter the present UT status of J&K and restoring it back to Statehood, without acknowledging and addressing the genocide of Hindus of Kashmir and its consequences, will inevitably strengthen separatist consolidation and embolden terrorist-separatist forces across India.
It said the GoI should take notice that the objectives of Pakistan and political formations in J&K are glaringly aimed at restoring the status quo ante as existed before the reorganization of J&K State and neutralization of Article 370, as their objective is not democratic restoration, but ideological and demographic consolidation aimed at subverting the polity from within.
PK reiterated that the biggest flaw in the Government of India’s handling of J&K is a ruthless approach of persistent denial, dilution and avoidance of formally acknowledging and recognizing the Hindu genocide in Kashmir. This approach has acted as the biggest over-ground support structure of separatist terrorism in the UT by causing blindness about the ideological motivations of terrorist separatism and its operational goals.
Treating half-separatist politics as legitimate democratic engagement, without ideological accountability, has further strengthened the over-ground ecosystem sustaining terrorism. PK stated unequivocally that the present BJP Government, in this regard, continues substantially with the flawed framework of its predecessors, which in effect secularized, trivialized, and normalized what is fundamentally a religiously driven separatist war.
