JAMMU, Feb 26: Senior BJP leader Raman Suri today strongly criticized the Jammu & Kashmir National Conference (NC) Government for its failure to ensure timely relief to families affected by floods and heavy rains across the UT. He said that months after the devastation, many families in the Jammu division are still waiting for compensation, which has aggravated their suffering and uncertainty.
Taking the NC Government head on, Suri said that while the BJP-led Central Government under Narendra Modi did not hesitate in releasing adequate funds for relief and rehabilitation, the pressing question remains: why are these funds not reaching the actual beneficiaries? “If the Centre has done its duty promptly, what is stopping the UT administration from delivering justice to the victims?” he asked.
Suri expressed concern that despite official claims of streamlining the process and holding district administrations accountable, relief work has not gained the required momentum even after last year’s losses. He called for the identification of officials who are failing in their responsibilities and said accountability must be fixed without delay.
