Samba police works out vehicle theft case, arrests accused

SAMBA, Feb 28: Samba police has worked out a vehicle theft case registered at Police Station Samba, arrested an accused person and recovered stolen vehicle Mahindra Scorpio S11 worth Rs 20 lac approximately following an intensive and technically driven investigation.
Police said on February 11, this year a written complaint was lodged at Police Station (PS) Samba by one person namely Rakesh Kumar, son of Prakash Chand of village Tadun Samour, tehsil Dharampur district Mandi (Himachal Pradesh) presently residing at Ward No. 11, Samba regarding theft of his car Mahindra Scorpio bearing Registration Number HP86A-6363, Classic Black, Model 2024 from Samba area during the intervening night of 10/11.02.2026 by unknown people.
Police said acting over the complaint, a case FIR No. 38/2026 under relevant Sections of law was registered at Police Station (PS) Samba and investigation started.
Immediately after registration of the case, Police Station Samba initiated an intensive and technically driven investigation. During the course of investigation, various CCTV footage, movement patterns and technical inputs were analyzed and it was conclusively established that the stolen vehicle had moved from Jammu & Kashmir to another State.
Police said the sustained efforts coupled with professional investigation ultimately led to the tracing and recovery of the stolen Mahindra Scorpio from Bhilwara, Rajasthan. Further investigation revealed the involvement of Pawan Kumar, son of Kamal Singh of Village Biran, district Bhiwani (Haryana) in the theft of the vehicle. With coordinated inter-State efforts, the accused was apprehended who upon sustained questioning confessed his involvement in the instant case.
Further investigation of the case is going on.
