Stolen gold worth Rs 11 lakh recovered, woman held

JAMMU, Feb 28: Police here today claimed to have solved a theft case in Janipur area and recovered stolen gold ornaments worth Rs 11 lakh. A woman was also arrested in connection with the case.
According to police, a written complaint was lodged at Police Station Janipur on February 22, 2026 by one Sandeep Jamwal, a resident of Janipur Colony, who reported theft of around 9 tolas of gold ornaments from his house by some unknown person(s).
Acting on the complaint, the police registered a case FIR number 28/2026 under the relevant sections of the law at Police Station Janipur and started further investigation.
Accordingly, a special team led by PSI Vivek Daliya under the guidance of SHO Janipur Inspector Vikram Sharma, SDPO West Dr Satish Bhardwaj, and SP City North Vivek Shekhar Sharma, identified and detained a suspect, identified as Muskhan Nayyar of Janipur Colony.
During sustained questioning, police said, the suspected woman confessed to her involvement in the crime and on her disclosure, the stolen gold ornaments worth Rs 11 lakh were recovered.
Meanwhile, further investigation into the case is underway.
