GULMARG, Mar 3: The All India Inter-University Winter Games 2025–26, hosted by the Central University of Kashmir (CU Kashmir), concluded at Gulmarg, witnessing fierce competition across Alpine Skiing, Snowboarding and Ski Mountaineering. Universities from across India participated, with athletes showcasing grit, skill and endurance amid challenging snowy conditions.
The closing ceremony featured AIU Observer Dr Rina Poonia, University of Kashmir Director Sports Dr Surjeet Bali, Assistant Director Tausif Bhat and a host of sports luminaries. For this year edition of AIU winter sports 2025-26, Dr Kaukab Azeem, I/C Director Sports at CU Kashmir, served as Organizing Secretary, while Dr Mohammad Muzamil Shah, Asst Prof. CU Kashmir, was joint organizing secretary and also conducted the proceedings in the closing ceremony.
In the Men’s Alpine Skiing: Faizan Ahmad Lone (3 Golds); Zubair Ahmad Mir, University of Kashmir (3 Silvers); Imran Manzoor Lone, University of Kashmir (Bronze in Slalom and Giant Slalom); Mustafa Rahim, Central University of Kashmir (Bronze in Parallel Slalom).
Women’s Alpine Skiing: Shah Parihaan Peerzada, University of Kashmir (Gold in Slalom and Giant Slalom, Silver in Parallel Slalom); Misbha Maqbool, University of Kashmir (Gold in Parallel Slalom, Silver in Giant Slalom); Huzaima Hanief, Central University of Kashmir (Silver in Slalom, Bronzes in Giant Slalom and Parallel Slalom); Seerat Farooq, Central University of Kashmir (Bronze in Slalom).
Men’s Snowboarding: Vakar Ahmad Lone, RIMT University, Punjab (2 Golds); Asif Shabir, University of Kashmir (2 Silvers); Balvir Singh, University of Kashmir (2 Bronzes). Women’s Snowboarding: Prakriti Thakur, Chandigarh University, Punjab (2 Golds); Sehar Rashid, Central University of Kashmir (2 Silvers); Saima Jan, Central University of Kashmir (2 Bronzes).
Men’s Ski Mountaineering: Shardul Thapliya, Graphic Era University, Dehradun (Gold); Umar Bashir, University of Kashmir (Silver); Ayush Bhatt, Uttaranchal University, Dehradun (Bronze). Women’s Ski Mountaineering: Shah Parihaan Peerzada, University of Kashmir (Gold); Misbha Maqbool, University of Kashmir (Silver); Huzaima Hanief, Central University of Kashmir (Bronze).
