CM meets delegations, individuals at Raabita

JAMMU, Mar 3: Several delegations and individuals today called on Chief Minister Omar Abdullah at Public Outreach Office Raabita in Jammu, and apprised him of a range of public, developmental and sector-specific issues.
JKPCC working president Raman Bhalla today led a delegation of displaced persons from PoJK to meet Chief Minister seeking urgent intervention against what he described as the “systematic denial” of Scheduled Tribe (ST2) certificates to members of the displaced Pahari community of DPs.
Calling the issue one of “constitutional justice and equal treatment under law,” Bhalla urged the Chief Minister to immediately direct all district administrations across the Union Territory to ensure uniform implementation of the Scheduled Tribe notification for the Pahari Ethnic Group (PEG), without discrimination on the basis of present place of residence.
Bhalla forcefully raised the long-pending demand for implementation of the Parliamentary Committee’s recommendation of a Rs 30 lakh rehabilitation package for PoJK Displaced Persons (DPs). He said that thousands of families uprooted during the 1947 conflict continue to live in economic hardship and deserve comprehensive financial relief to ensure dignified rehabilitation. The delegation also submitted a detailed memorandum to the Chief Minister highlighting grievances of displaced persons belonging to the Pahari Ethnic Group who are presently residing in different districts of Jammu Division.
Senior NC leader and former minister Ajay Sadhotra also called on Chief Minister on Tuesday and discussed the overall situation in the region with particular focus on development initiatives, employment generation and economic empowerment of the people.
During the meeting, Sadhotra apprised the Chief Minister of various public issues and stressed the need to further accelerate development works across regions and sub-regions. He underlined the importance of further strengthening grassroots-level implementation of welfare schemes to ensure that benefits reach the intended sections in a transparent and time-bound manner. He lauded the Omar government’s thrust on inclusive development, job creation and economic opportunities for youth and marginalised segments.
A delegation of Shri Mata Vaishnodevi Sanghrash Samiti, Katra also called on the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in his office here today and discussed the issue with regard to the `controversial’ proposed Ropeway Project . The delegation led by former minister, Jugal Kishore Sharma submitted a detailed memorandum to the Chief Minister and sought his intervention for suspension of this project , which they claim that it was against the interests of the poor people connected with the Yatra and local businessmen.
Traders Association Trikuta Nagar, Jammu, President Abhinav Anand also called on the Chief Minister and strongly raised several pressing issues concerning the trading and business community. During the meeting, Anand highlighted the growing challenges faced by traders, particularly issues related to traffic congestion, lack of proper parking facilities in commercial areas, and various administrative hurdles that are affecting the smooth functioning of businesses.
The delegation stressed that the trading community plays a vital role in the economic growth of the region and therefore their concerns must be addressed on priority.
Former Minister Jagjiwan Lal also called on the Chief Minister and discussed matters of public importance concerning his area as well as the broader region.
A delegation led by Dr. Parveen Akhter Lone, Principal, IG Government Dental College, Jammu, briefed the Chief Minister about the significance of the upcoming national-level academic event and its importance for advancing dental education and research in the region.
A delegation headed by Dr. M. A. Alim, Chairman, CII J&K, met the Chief Minister and discussed the role of industry in economic revival, investment promotion and employment generation, while seeking continued government support for strengthening the industrial ecosystem.
A delegation of sportspersons, along with others selected under SO-12 (Outstanding Sportspersons), met the Chief Minister to express their gratitude. They thanked the Government for recognising their achievements and facilitating opportunities in public service. The Chief Minister congratulated them on their accomplishments and encouraged them to continue striving for excellence in their respective fields.
President, Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Jammu, Arun Gupta, accompanied by members, also called on the Chief Minister and discussed issues concerning trade, industry and routine business matters. The delegation sought measures to ease procedural bottlenecks and further strengthen the commercial ecosystem in Jammu.
The Chief Minister gave a patient hearing to the deputations and individuals and assured that their genuine concerns would be addressed on priority. He reiterated that his Government remains accessible and responsive to public representatives, professional bodies, industry leaders and citizens, and that constructive dialogue will continue to guide policy decisions in the larger interest of Jammu and Kashmir.
